The books have a strong central romance, but also include adventure and intrigue with some sort of kingdom-level threat that must be defeated. They are all interconnected, however, so characters do pop up in each other’s stories. My fairy tale retellings are mostly stand-alone books with each one having a different hero and heroine. I have several series of connected fairy tale retellings, and several series of general YA fantasy. In terms of authoring, I write Young Adult. I’ve always wanted to write one myself, but it took three careers and three different continents before I actually managed it. And although I got older, I never stopped loving children’s and young adult novels. I grew up on a staple diet of books, books and more books.

The pressure will build.įeelings can make us uneasy and uncomfortable. They are like balloons pushed under the water. The very problem with this, is that feelings that get supressed over time will turn into anxiety, depression, and other issues. They are fearful and avoidant of feelings, or see them as weak, silly or inconvenient. The reason is they are in touch with their mind but not their feelings. It is beyond them why they would be hit by such anxiety. On the surface they look very together and rational. I often come across clients who suddenly start to have panic attacks. This is unconditional no matter how “well” I am doing. I remembered how I used to sooth myself thinking about my dad when I was young. When I thought of my boys, their little faces, and the love between us, the anxiety lifted even more. When I came to realize, “it is really a thought rather than a fact”, the anxiety eased. When I lied in bed struggling to sleep at night, I asked myself what my fear was. When I was starting my private practice, I was going through anxiety myself. A sense of secure attachment can be strengthened to reduce this. Anxiety can also be seen as a lack of security. In fact, one might even say Sebastian is too good to be true.
